Campaign Issues

My campaign is focused on two core issues: Affordability and Fairness.

Affordability means making the American Dream a reality again. Americans shouldn’t be struggling just to survive while our leaders fund unnecessary wars and lavish ballrooms to drive up our national debt to disastrous levels.

Fairness means building a country that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few. We must hold our leaders accountable to ensure that they represent us, and we must support workers and small businesses to restore the balance of power away from the billionaire elite and back to the working class.

Affordability

    1. Support emergency efforts to provide immediate relief for Americans in the current economic crisis.

    2. Draft an Economic Bill of Rights to protect Americans from exploitation by employers, landlords, and economic instability.

    3. Create a democratic economy that promotes employee-owned co-ops, strengthens labor unions, and supports communities through public banking and public utilities.

    4. Create a fair and balanced tax policy that closes loopholes and ensures billionaires and corporations pay their fair share.

    1. Push legislation that fully implements a Medicare for All system that is supported by most Americans across all political parties.

    2. Forgive medical debt and expand coverage to include naturopathic and alternative medicine.

    3. Reverse Trump-era cuts to Medicare and Medicaid that have reduced access to healthcare and threaten the viability of hospitals across Connecticut.

    1. Double Pell Grants and broaden eligibility requirements.

    2. Cap student loan interest rates at 1% and ensure they never exceed the principal loan.

    3. Streamline university and college administrative bureaucracy and bend the cost curve.

    4. Restore public student loan forgiveness (PSLF) for civil servants and anyone serving the public good.

Fairness

    1. End Insider Trading: Congress members cannot use insider information for stock trading, nor share with anyone outside of Congress. Members cannot trade stocks or other securities during their term, and any members found in violation will be expelled.

    2. Term Limits: Members of both chambers will be limited to a maximum of 18 years of service. House representatives will be limited to 9 terms; Senators will be limited to 3 terms.

    3. Age Limits: No person who will reach the age of 80 during the term they seek will be eligible to run for that office.

    4. Ban private sectory lobbying for 10 years after service.

  • Representative DeLauro no longer serves the people of Connecticut’s 3rd District. Why would she, when 95% of her campaign funding ($1.7 million!) comes from corporate donors and special-interest PACs?

Her corporate donors include— but are not limited to!— SpaceX, Deloitte, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, HP, Verizon, Raytheon, AT&T, L3Harris, and General Dynamics.

Rep. DeLauro has also received nearly $600,000 from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups. That might be why she refuses to call the situation in Gaza a genocide, even though the UN and several hundred humanitarian organizations would disagree with her.

Rep. DeLauro, 83, has been In office since 1991… that’s 35 years. She continues to use 20th-century thinking for 21st-century problems.

  • Trump and his administration have committed numerous impeachable offenses including usurping Congressional power, violating court orders, unauthorized and illegal military strikes, deploying military against American civilians, human trafficking, violating the Emoluments Clause... the list grows every day.

It is the duty of Congress to hold this administration accountable through their power of impeachment and removal.
